OUR MISSION

Recovery takes more than treatment.

It takes a reason to show up in the morning, a paycheck, and skills that last. Chiseled Hope Woodcraft exists to offer all three.

The need in Rhode Island

Rhode Island recorded 219 accidental overdose deaths in 2025, down from 329 in 2024 and 436 in 2022. That progress is real, but the toll is still heavy. Opioids were involved in 73% of overdose deaths and fentanyl in 57%, and the burden falls unevenly across racial and ethnic groups.

The gap in care is wide too. Roughly 231,000 Rhode Islanders needed substance use treatment in 2023, but only about 49,000 received it.

How we work

Chiseled Hope Woodcraft has two parts that depend on each other. Shop sales pay wages and help keep the training going, so every purchase supports the mission directly.

The training program

We hire people in recovery and teach them woodworking on the job.

The shop

We sell the furniture and goods our trainees build.

The loop

Revenue from the shop pays wages and helps fund the next group of trainees.

What success looks like

A trainee who leaves us with steady work habits, real woodworking skills, references, and confidence in what they can build. For some, that means a career in the trades. For others, it is the foundation for whatever comes next.
